Does anyone know what the dynamics of smoke rings is. They seem to have
quite interesting properties:
- Their 'forward'velocity is connected with their radius.
- A small ring going through a bigger ring will enlarge and slow down, while
the bigger one reduces its radius and increases its velocity
- They seem to conserve an ordered 'motion'for a longer period of time than
laminar flow of smoke.
I suspect that the stability and properties of smoke rings must have
something to do with vortex motion, but I have no idea aout how that works.
Thanks
James
