Today, physics teacher training consists of  learning physics  followed
by some general
courses in "education" and methods of teaching followed by some student
teaching.
Has it ever been different in the past?  Will it ever be different in the
future?

or pre-med dropouts are being required to teach physics classes if they
wish to retain their jobs)
