Ahhh, another great chance for a comment, err, soap box rant.


Many upper level physics students have not been introduced
sufficiently well to a dictionary. (Great leap, but I believe!)

Agreed, another friend has a story of the incredulity of somebody who wanted
some information out of an encyclopedia and was surprised that the
information might be found in a dictionary; in other words dictionaries
often can function as encyclopedias, as well as spelling checkers and
meaning checkers.
