Such is the power of myth even among those best able to see it as such.
Once a belief has taken over my mind, I might never get loose from it
again. That's why I try to never believe nor disbelieve anything, but
work instead in terms of probability of something being true. If I *know*
something is true, that is very different than being almost absolutely
certain. If I am almost absolutely certain about something, I can always
revise my certainty upwards or downwards. On the other hand, if I *know*
that something is true, then I might get stuck, because the transition
from near-certainty to absolute certainty is usually a big change.
