Leigh, students don't seem to find the word (amperage) as repulsive as we
do. I get students that come to class with this terminology already in
hand. The challenge then becomes to bring them from the perceived world of
"bush-league" into the more enlightened world of "physicists." To present
to the student, what seems to be in my opinion, a premature hurdle of
semantics (which might ruin interest in the subject matter), is unnecessary
at the beginning.
