Four traditional circuits in the intro course are RC, RL, LC, and RLC
circuits.
My question is a bit trivial, but for which I've never seen an explanation:
What is the reason for the order of the symbols in these circuit names?
For instance, why not call it an LR circuit instead of an RL circuit?
Is there some reason other than convention? (Even if it's just convention,
there must have been a reason for starting the convention because it
doesn't seem random. After all, the R always comes first and the C always
comes last....)
