I like what Judge Jones said in the Kitzmiller decision (paraphrasing):
"people who are very public about advocating for their religious beliefs
suddenly become silent when it concerns the religious motivation for
teaching their preferred explanation of the origin of life in school".

Worth reading in full, and easy to understand even if you're not a lawyer.

For many evangelicals, the means justify the ends and so they have no
problem lying to potential converts.  They're about to waste a lot of
taxpayer money in a state that is already quite poor.  They don't care.
