SciAm June issue P22 briefly mentions in what I hope is not a joking
manner, that the April First Geophysical Research Letters reported
that Reising et al, at UMass have found a radio signature that
can identify sprites coincident with lightning strokes, as distinct from
'spriteless' flashes.
Cheap and effective, it seems.
